Licensure Requirements |
1. Good moral character.
2. Successful completion of academic requirements (including supervised fieldwork) by an education program recognized by the State Board of Health.
3. Passed an examination approved by the Department.
4. Paid required fees. |

License Renewal |
The Board shall issue licenses subject to renewal biennially
(every two years). The licensure period shall be construed as May 1 through April 30 of even numbered years.
Procedure for Renewal:
1. Complete renewal form mailed to permanent address in April by State Dept.
2. Submit proof of continuing education credit (2 CEU's or 20 contact hours at least 30% of or 6 contact hours must be directly related to clinical practice of OT).
3. Enclose renewal fee. (see above)
4. Mail fee/renewal form documents prior to end of licensure period. |

Professional Identification |
All licensed OT practitioners are required to prominently
display their state license in his/her place of employment. The licensed
practitioners shall carry the license identification card with them at all
times while providing services and show said ID when requested. |
| OT Advisory Council |
The OT advisory council consists of five members. The
purpose of the council is to serve in an advisory capacity to the
Department. The Board may seek the counsel of the OT Advisory
council regarding disciplinary actions of OT practitioners. The
Advisory council is responsible for approving any continuing education
hours that are not provided by AOTA, MSOTA, AMA, or other institutions as
identified in Section 7-4 of the State OT Regulations p. 11. |

License Sanctions |
Specific information on standards of conduct, complaints,
investigations, notice of charges, hearings and sanctions that can be
imposed on an OT practitioner's license can be obtained from the Mississippi State
Board of Health Licensure Department. The following are sanctions the
State Board of Health can elect to impose on OT practitioners who violate
the OT Practice Act and State Regulations.
Revoke a License, Suspend a License, Censure a License, Monetary Penalty, Refusal to Renew a License, Probation. |
Continuing Education

Requirements:
20 contact hours (ch) or 2 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are to be
accrued during the licensure period. No carryover of con't ed hours from
one license period to another shall be allowed. At least 30 percent (6
contact hours) of the required con't ed must be directly related to the
clinical practice of OT. Individual applying for initial licensing term
must accrue con't ed hours on a prorated scale. Written notification of
required hours will be sent to the applicant at time of licensure.
Persons who fail to accrue the education hours shall be issued a CE
probationary license for the license term. Failure to accrue the con't ed
hours during the probationary period will result in revocation of the
license.
